Women’s Connection: Empower Women’s Program

at Smokey Point Behavioral Hospital

The Women’s Connection program is a specialized program for women only. Patients participate in process groups that address trauma and utilize CBT. Patients actively participate in expressive therapy, including yoga, movement therapy, art therapy and music therapy. We support our patients with psychoeducational groups that promote healthy coping and practicing mindfulness.

At Smokey Point Behavioral we understand how important an independent inpatient mental health program for women is. According to Mental Health America, about one in every eight women can expect to develop clinical depression during their lifetime. Women also experience depression at approximately twice the rate of men.. What is most concerning though, is fewer than half of the women who experience clinical depression will ever seek mental health care.

These statistics can’t be ignored, which is why our Women’s Connection program is designed to help women of all ages get the mental health treatment needed to continue on with their lives. It is never easy to admit you are experiencing a problem, but the first step in the healing process of acknowledging that you are in need of help. Our mental health staff is comes with the skills necessary to help you or a loved one, as our Women’s Connection treatment is designed just for women who experience depression, anxiety, substance use problems, or thoughts of suicide or homicide as a result of trauma, abuse, or PTSD.
